Wordle – Word analysis

Here’s a neat toy that will analyze the frequency of words in a text passage to illustrate which words are used most frequently in a passage.  This can be used to see patterns in text and to see which words are most important in a passage.

You can type in your own text, copy/paste text from a file or just put in a URL to have a webpage analyzed.  Here’s a description from the website:

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
