Google Drive is a wonderful resource that can benefit both students and teachers. I use it to develop my study guides, tests, and for online storage of documents. This way I can have access any place as long as the Internet is available. We use it in class when we need to share our work among different small groups. My students love that they can add something or comment on the work of others in real time. Students also benefit from the use of this site at home when they are working to complete a group project. Parents love it because they can also see what their children are working on and who seems to be doing the most to contribute to the overall effort of the project.

Yes. You can upload the files to Google Drive then convert them work work on them in Google Docs if you'd like or you can just store them in the drive area. To upload you just need to log into Google Docs through Moodle and click the upload button. You'll see it to the right of the read "Create" button in the top left area of the screen. After you upload it you can follow the directions Mike listed under the "Make Uploaded Files Editable" section in the blog post above.

Good luck.

I create 100% of my Computer Essentials coursework in Moodle using free web resources as well as my own content creations. One very important consideration to be made as we move this way is the INCREDIBLE amount of a teacher's time it takes to research and write this work. I spend much, much more time now creating, and then after the lessons are past, editing the content. And of course, I still must check student work for understanding.

Another important consideration is that the design of content when presenting it online. Your instructions and how they are written become extremely important in order for all students to understand what they are to do.

I hope there will be some instructional design training for classroom teachers as we all move more to online instruction.
