Week Two Has Come and Gone!

Saturday 23rd August 2008 - 9:30:36 AM

We have now completed two of thirty-six weeks of our new school year. During this past week we continued reviewing material from years past.

Language: We studied about complete and simple subjects and predicates.

Math: We studied about exponents, order of operations, equations with variables, and finding the area of rectangles.

History: We studied about the Westward expansion of our country and the hardships this movement caused for the Native Americans.

Science: We studied about the three different types of rocks ( igneous, metamorphic, & sedimentary) and how they are formed.

In reflecting on this past week, I believe the week was fairly productive and am proud that we were able to cover as much ground as we did. We will continue to raise the bar as we move farther into this school year because of the large amount of material that must be covered in order for our 6th graders to be prepared for the ARMT and SAT standardized tests that they will complete later this school year.

Preparing our 6th graders to be successful is my number one priority, and I am counting on my parents to assist me as we move forward during this school year. Parents can help by making certain that their children have a quiet place to complete any unfinished school work, have the necessary supplies, and that their children get plenty of rest during the night. Working together, we can make this the best school year ever for my students.

It’s sad to know that the year is going to be over soon, because 100 days isn’t that long.
