We ended day 2 at my brother’s home in Larmar, Arkansas. They grilled some steaks and chichen for us. We were ready for some good food after spending over 450 miles on our bikes. On day 3 we headed out toward Kansas City but along the way we decided to head West instead. We are now spending the night in Russell, Kansas. We decided to get a hotel room because the weather turned really nasty. We had to endure some very high winds. I always wondered how my bike would ride sideways and now I know. If we had a sail on our bikes we could have saved a lot of gas. The rain has now stopped and the temperature has dropped about 20 degrees since we arrived at our hotel. Time for some rest so we can get an early start tomorrow. We rode a total of 570 miles. I would say we had a really great day.
Well we just finished having Subway for dinner. We rode about 450 miles and are now in Alliance, Nebraska. We stopped by and saw Carhinge. I took several photos and will post them when I return home. Tomorrow morning we will ride over to the Badlands. The weather was great today. It was sunny and the high was about 85 degrees. We are camping tonight and it is suppose to go down to about 55 degrees. I had better bundle up. Well it is time to head back to the camp for the night. I’ll try and write more tomorrow.
Two days ago we spent the night in the Badlands. about 10:00 that night the campground was hit by a tornado. There were a lot of flattened tents and destroyed pop-up campers. We survived with only a little water damage but nothing major. The next morning the cold weather had had taken its toll on my battery so we were off the Rapid City. We replace the battery at Rice Honda for $115 dollars and afer a couple of hours we were off to see Mount Rushmore. That place is amazing. From there we made our way up the mountain to Custer State Park on Hwy 16. That was a great ride with lot and lots of tight curves and several tunnels. After have a late lunch, we headed to see Crazy Horse. That is another impressive sight to see. It was getting late so we made hase up to Sturgis where were spent the night. It was a very quite night because we were the only ones in the campground. Today we are headed to see the Devil’s Tower. I’ll post mose when we have an Internet connection again.
Jonathan,
I had a great time. It was a little cool up in some of the northern states but nothing that I could not deal with. I got to see some wonderful sights and I cannot wait to go up there again. When it was all said and done, I had ridden over 5,000 miles. I hope you are having a great summer too!
All of these sights are very pretty! I have some exciting news! My parents finally has some free time from us, and a week before school they are going to Seattle, Washington. I am so happy for them! I am really going to miss everyone! Excpecially the school! Whish me luck…….. Love Sarah W.
Hi Sarah! That is some exciting news about your parents. I truly hope their trip is a safe and fun one. Seattle is a long way from here. Mrs. Rhodus and I made several trips to Spokane, Washington while our son was stationed up there and I remember how far away that is from here. I am glad you are excited about the new school year starting soon. You will do fine as long as you remember the reason why you are there. I wish you all the success possible and I am certain you will make me and your parents proud. Thanks for checking our Blog and taking the time to write. Now get out and enjoy the rest of your summer!
We left Robertsdale Friday morning and are spending the night in Tanner, Alabama. Tomorrow we will leave out early for Lamar, Arkansas.
