First Week Impressions
Well this has been a very interesting start to this school year. Even though we have thirty-eight students, I have been very pleased with them and their efforts. They appear to be a really good group and I hope it remains that way all year long. We have been able to cover several lessons in most of the subjects. This is always good when a teacher can get started teaching during the first week of school. I am glad to report that we have been using our computers to assist us with our lessons and my students have done very well logging in and out of the different programs that we will continue to use throughout the year. We were very successful in completing our weekly assessments online too. My students seemed to really prefer taking their assessments online verses with paper and pencils. I am already looking forward to week two. I urge everyone (students and parents) to post how they think our first week has gone and what they are expecting to occur during week two and beyond. Thanks to everyone for helping to start this new school year off in such a positive manner.

I think the first week went by so fast! It seems as if they just started school yesterday. Angela is really enjoying working on the computer at home. It was really surprising because as soon as we got home the other day she went on the computer and started doing her assignments.

Hey Mr. Rhodus,
How is school so far? I heard that you are the only 6th grade teaching this year, how that been? I was just wanting to know how everything has been.
Your student,
John

Hi, John! So far school has been great. I am looking forward to a great year even with the large number of students that I have this year. I hope you are settling into the middle school okay. Well take care and good luck this year. Bye the way, please say hello to your parents for me.
Mr. Rhodus

Good morning. Just dropping by to say hello. Miland really seems to be enjoying your class and is excited about the school year.
I do have a question- are there any educational field trips planned for the year or exhibits coming to the school? We are new to this school so I’m not sure what is typical…
Also, I need to get Miland enrolled in the gifted program here. Do you know the point of contact for this?
Thanks!
Amy

Mrs. Myers,
Thank you for posting on our blog. I hope you visit as often as possible. I am glad that Miland is enjoying my class. He seems to fit in very well. We usually go on one field trip but this is really up to the children. They must demonstrate self-control and show me that they are mature enough to represent our school in a positive manner. Should we decide to make a trip away from school as a class, I will send information home to inform my parents. Any trip such as this will not occur until after our state mandated testing. I am not certain if we have any exhibits scheduled to visit our school or not, but if we do, a notification will be sent out to the parents informing them about the event. Our gifted teacher’s name is Mr. Turner. He should be able to handle any questions concerning our Gifted program.
