Week Eleven Reflections

Saturday 30th October 2010 - 8:30:24 AM

This past week we began our study on pronouns in Language. In Math we learned about number and shape patterns. During Science we continued our study in Chapter 7 on plate tectonics. We will finish up Chapter 7 by the end of the week and we will take our test early the following week. Our History time was spent learning about how city life changed during the early 1800’s. We will complete Chapter 20 in History on Monday. Our chapter test will be either on Tuesday or Wednesday, so please remember to take your book home so you can study. This next week, as a class, we will begin to read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.

We had to say goodbye to one of our classmates this week but we were blessed to gain a new addition as well. We want to say goodbye and good luck to Rebecca and we would like to welcome Sandra to our class.

We finished out our week by going skating and it was pretty clear that everyone had a very good time. Please review the photos that I have already posted on our blog of this event.

Parents, please mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 2nd and for Friday, November 5th. Tuesday we will have our 1st Quarter Awards beginning at 7:45. Then on Friday, we will have our Fall Festival from 10:00 until 2:00. This is always a lot of fun and we hope that everyone will be able to attend.

I also want to remind all of my parents about our Compass Learning program. This is an online program where every child has an individualized learning path that targets their weak skills. This is program can be accessed from any computer that is connected to the Internet. Your child should know his/her username and password. Please allow your child time to work through their activities that are in this program so that they will be better prepared when we test the next time with this program.

    Dear Mr. Rhodus,
What is the 1st quater awards event? I’m guessing that it’s something that has to deal with grades. (e.g, honor roll)

You are correct, Miland. This is how we at Elsanor honor those students who have worked so hard to achieve success on their report cards. Parents and grandparents are also encouraged to attend this event.

Thank you for telling me that. I am still learning about Elsanor everyday.
