Welcome to Kindergarten Korner, Baldwin County’s site for Baldwin County kindergarten teachers to collaborate and share resources.

NOTICE: We have recently had to make some changes to the site that hosts out SMART and Promethean files. Since those files contain copy write material from book publishers and from United Streaming we had to limit the use to Baldwin County teachers only. Promethean Flipcharts for Reading Street are being uploaded to Smartboard files course on the learn.bcbe website. These files were designed to help me stay on track while utilizing the reading series. Please let me know if you feel I need to add or change any of the pages on the files.  If you use Promethean in your classroom, please feel free to use these files, and edit them to fit your teaching style.

The Technology Department updated to the new version of wordpress software and the links on the site were broken during the update.  I have worked a couple hours repairing part of the loss but it will take me a few days to get everything totally connected again.  This update was done to try to prevent the site from going up and down like it did at the end of last year.  I think I have the items that you will be using the first few weeks of school accessible but you may not be able to get to all of the other units at this time.  If there is anything that you need NOW and the link doesn’t work, please email me at skg3161@yahoo.com.

Since we are only teaching one more week of Foresman we (Silverhill K teachers) picked from the three remaining books and have skipped 6-4 and went to 6-5 for this week.  You can find resources for 6-5 by clicking on reading, clicking on Unit 6, clicking on 6.5.  I have uploaded some worksheets.  The whiteboard site is down at the moment so when it comes up, I will begin uploading smart files for 6-5.    Shelley

Sorry about the site going up and down.  That’s the pitfall of technology; sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t! IT services is aware of the problem and other blogs in the county are doing the same thing.  I am sure the problem will be located and corrected soon.  Be sure and leave a comment on one of the posts before leaving the site!  You do this by clicking on comments in the right hand corner of the post you want to comment on.

Many of you have requested a link to the Kindergarten Kove site and the Waltke Web site for Scott Foresman.  You can click on their name in this post and it will take it to their site.  Some sites I use for the smart files are the Foresman Pearson site to access the teacher’s textbook and leveled readers and United Streaming to find movies and movie clips.  You have to sign up for these accounts but, the cost is paid by the district so there is no cost to you.  If you haven’t got your account yet, it is very worth doing so.

There is some confusion about registering.  The box to the right hand side is for administration of the site.  You do not have to register to use the site.  The only time you need a password/enrollment key is when you click on the whiteboard resource links.  You will then be prompted to enter the password I emailed you.

I have uploaded files to 5.5 thru 6.2 Reading and 11-1 to 11-8 Math.  You will need a password to get to the Smartfiles.  I will send this password via email.  Check them out and please post comments to this post.  IT Services has been good enough to allow us this space and the time to set it up for us.  Let’s show our appreciation by utilizing it to the best we can!

There are over 120 Kindergarten teachers in Baldwin County.  We are all teaching to the same standards from the same textbooks.  Think of all the resources spread across the county.  A teacher’s time is so limited and in so much demand.  Let’s work smarter and share the work.  Think of the kindergarten program we can create across OUR county!

An email distribution list has been created for BCBE Kindergarten teachers.  A test email has been sent out and there has been a lot of POSITIVE feedback about the creation of this site!
