Gaillard Island is a dredge disposal island located in Mobile Bay. The island is an important site for colonial nesting seabirds and shore birds in coastal Alabama and has been the only nesting site for brown pelican in Alabama – first discovered in 1983. (Source: Wikipedia)

Pelican’s Nest Science Lab – Down By the Bay
Kindergarten-Fifth Grade Classes in Baldwin County have participated in field experiences at the Fairhope beach and seen or collected these plants and animals.  All of the organism the students have seen will be affected by the oil if it reaches their habitat.
