I have all of my chaperones for this field trip. They are: Mrs. Dunn, Ms. Gomez, Mrs. Shreves, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Comstock. These ladies were the first to send their forms back. If you were already chosen for the hospital trip, to be fair, you were not considered for this trip. There will be upcoming field trips that have no limits. Thanks mrs. Labak

If your child checked out a Hillert book from our library, look for the word list in the back of the book. These are the sight words your child needs to know to enable them to read the book. Write these words on index cards and use them as flash cards. Add to the cards when your child gets another book. You will be surprised at how fast they learn and how much better they comprehend when they aren’t having to sound out every word.

We will have another snowcone day on Wednesday (15th). A small is plenty big enough for Kindergarteners.

We have made arrangements for a field trip to Thomas Hospital to learn about community helpers and their jobs. Each class will go on separate days because of space constraints while touring the hospital. Mrs. O’Brian’s class will attend on Monday, October 18th, Ms. Grayson’s class will attend on Tuesday, October 19th, and Mrs. Labak’s will attend on Wednesday, October 20th. If you are interested in being a chaperone for your child’s class, please let the teacher know we are restricted in the number of people we can take. Each class may have 5 chaperones.

Library books are coming home. Please take care of them, listen to your child read them nightly or read their book to them nightly. Books should be returned to school daily. We have silent reading time and they will be testing on these books.

On Mondays, your child will bring home a “Family Times” booklet. Look for the box titled Words to Read. Start making flash cards with these words. These are the Kindergarten sight words. Your child will need to able to read them. Index cards work well for this. On Tuesdays, your cild will bring home the take home reader. Have your child read this book to you and take notice of any difficulties.
