A Day in the Life of a Gifted Education Class

PJ Rocks!

February 2nd, 2012 by Jordan C

Project Jubilee has been really fun lately. We have done Shakespear, optical illusions, and weaving!!! We are going on a field trip to see Shakespear’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Trojan Hall next week. Today, we finished up our coat of arms, worked on some optical illusions, and talked about Shakespear. We hope Mrs.Heald will allow us to start up class dojo again. For those who don’t remeber class dojo, it is everyone has a little avatar that looks like a monster. From then on Mrs.Heald can give our little monsters points for good behavior or, she could deduct points for negative behavior. Also, we are doing little projects with a different topic for each person. My topic is Leis Ericson and the war of the roses. We are allowed to show our facts with a video or a audio podcast. I think I will get a LiveBinder to store my information. We could also get a Prezi but, I prefer a LiveBinder. That’s all I have to say today!! Bye!!!!

Project Jubilee

January 11th, 2012 by Kara

Hi, I’m Kara and in Project Jubilee last week we worked on our coat of arms. We only have a few more people that are finishing. We also did chess with notations. We learned how many points each piece meant except the king, which is priceless. We have received all the information for the BIG Project Jubilee field trip to Atlanta, Georgia. My friends and I are so excite for this field trip. We also need old t-shirts donated for an art project we are doing with the loom to make a rug for the classroom. Project Jubilee is fun.

4H Camp

April 27th, 2011 by brendan

At the 4H camp we did many exciting things. We learned how to canoe and how to choose the right life jacket and oar. We also learned how to read maps. We did team initiatives to learn to have better teamwork and work better with others. They had a climbing wall. It had a 24 ft wall a 27 ft wall and a 30 ft wall. It was my favorite thing we did at the 4H camp. We also went fishing with cane poles and learned how to cast them. They had a bald eagle with the top part of its beak crossing over the bottom part. We did something called food waste it was to see if you could get the minimum amount of food that you didn’t eat. We got down to a fourth of a pound at the last meal.

4H Camp

April 7th, 2011 by sage

The field trip I went on was at 4H camp. We did fun activities. The first thing we did is get settled in our dorm. The next place we went is the main place for a meeting. In the meeting we were separated in groups. The group we were in was called the falcons. The first activity we did was canoeing. We had to put on life jackets for this activity. Another activity we did was fishing where I did not catch one. Another one is Lake Living where we got nets and scooped in the water to find life. Another activity was rock wall climbing. It was fun even though I’m afraid of heights. Another activity is food waste where we tried not to waste food. That’s what we did on the 4H field trip.

4H field trip…..awesome!!!

April 6th, 2011 by dayana

You won’t believe all the fun we had at the 4H camp. We did all kind of activities. We had to be divided into groups, 5TH grade was called the FALCONS which was my group. We had group leaders and their names were Mrs. Jenny, Mrs. Al, Mrs. Laura, Mr. Paul, Mr. Chris and Mr. Jeep. Our first activity was team initiatives and our tour guide was Mr. Paul. In that activity we learned about teamwork. We did a lot of other fun activities like we went canoeing, rock climbing, we fished, and caught some bugs. Then one night we had game night. We had choices if we wanted to play basketball, volleyball or fishing. While we were fishing, Abby, Callie and I could see the water move cause of the fish that were nibbling on Abby’s hook and then the next thing we know, Callie caught a big fish. I had to help her pull it in because it was huge. The 4H camp was the BEST!

April 6th, 2011 by renata

Hey there!… Well I want to talk about how great the 4H field trip was!! We met very exciting people (counselers-PAUL, Mrs. AL, Jenny) and we had so much fun:) We went canoeing, rock climbing, exploring for bugs, fishing, mini golfing, and so much more exciting activities!! It was on my birthday so it was a very good birthday gift from Mrs.Heald-thanks Mrs.Heald for this awesome field trip and for bringing us to an amazing place like the 4H camp!!! :) I had a lot of fun especially on the rock climbing. I got the highest in my group with the highest spot in 3rd wall. It was a very exciting thing being so high in the air and it was scary-thats what made it awesome!! Also Paul-One of the counselers was so amazingly fun and had these random cool songs. My favorite song was “Im A Little Teapot” with the beat of “I Love Rock and Roll” it was so fun to dance and sing along to. We were all divided into 4 clubs- Hawks, Falcons, Eagles, or Ospreys. I was in the Eagle group and we were known for being the loudest group when called we screamed so loud when they called our name it was fun. Everyone had a lot of fun with all our friends, the activities, teachers, and the counselers and really enjoyed it.

                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                            ♥ Renata♥

4H Field Trip

April 5th, 2011 by lily

Amazing! The 4h field trip was great. The HAWKS (4th grade) had a blast. There was Rock climbing, Team puzzles, good food! and a Dutch auction! I made a few new friends at 4h A.K.A Paul. At the Dutch auction we had to split in teams and we had different competitions one of our competitions was the best hair do our team one most angular fish. When I did the rock climbing, I tried the medium wall and made over halfway and on the small one I reached the top and also beat one of the chaperones. The team puzzles were really called team initiatives we had to do crazy weird stuff involving team work. I saw an eagle there named Woodford. I got to fish a few times and caught a minnow. I also learned weird things about butterflies/caterpillars like when they are in a chrysalis they melt then pull all their molecules together in the shape of a butterfly When all was said and done I was tired and ready to leave, but I was going to miss it. Mrs. Heald thank you so much I had a great time! And thanks for the way awesome buses! The 4H field trip was the best field trip I’ve ever been on so far! I could do that again if I had the chance.

4h field trip

April 5th, 2011 by Kara

The 4h field trip was awesome. We did so many things. We canoed, found bugs, learned about all kinds of things, played basketball and mini golf, and we fished. My two favorites out of all of those were fishing and canoed my Friend Alyssa and I made a canoeing song, “Row row row your canoe gently down the river, merely merely merely merely we hate Justin Bieber.” We also met Paul. There is only one big thing you need to know about paul, HE IS AWESOME!!!!!!! I bunked with Jordan, Paige, and Lily. We had such a fun time. I can’t wait until next year.

My Trip to the 4H Camp

April 4th, 2011 by Reagan

I enjoyed the trip to the 4H camp. The long bus ride there was entertaining while talking to friends, listening to my MP3 and playing on my DSi. I was excited when we arrived and pulled into the parking lot. We all had to set our bags down in front of our dorms. The dorms had two sets of bunk beds. It was fun. I enjoyed all the fun activities we got to do and participate in. The campfires each night were really entertaining. At breakfast, lunch, and dinner we talked about food waste and how we could reduce it. Then, we tried to set a goal for lowering food waste. It was easy, all you had to do was get small portions of things to begin and eat and if you’re still hungry then get more. We also learned more table manners than we probably knew and if you didn’t know table manners at all when you got there, you finally learned them. There was also canteen time. We got to buy snacks and other items, like stuffed animals, hats, water bottles, and T-Shirts. I really enjoyed the field trip. There was also a camp leader named Paul, he taught us a song about being a teapot, a song about a moose, and other songs that I can’t remember though. Another camp leader taught us a song about riding in a little, broken, red wagon. It was a great field trip. We stopped at McDonald’s and KFC on the way back. You could choose which one you wanted to go to. I hope we can go back to that camp again soon!
