Hi my name is Shavon. Since sixth grade has started, in Project Jubilee, we’ve been learning about optical illusions and how its just your eyes that make you think that you’ve seen somthing odd. We have also been learning about jazz music and musicians. For homework we have to research a famous musician. I got Nina Simon. This project is really fun and I really look forward to doing more !

We have been learning about the jazz age and the people that really made a difference and we have been doing some art projects that have to do with illusions and it has been very artistic. Soon we will do the Dale Chihuly project which is going to be very cool and creative.

In Project Jubilee we have been learning about optical illusions. Optical illusions are deceiving to the naked eye. They can have dimension or look like its moving and look like they aren’t. We also have been learning about jazz. I think jazz is awesome because it is cool sounding music and I also like the way the instruments sound. I have been studying Benny Goodman he was a famous clarinetist. We have been studying artists to we have mostly been studying Dale Chihuly and Julian Beever. Dave chihuly was an amazing glass blower that did many awesome series. Julian Beever did amazing optical illusions with sidewalk chalk that seemed to pop out of ground and have dimension. He did ones that looked like it had real water but it didn’t. We did art work with tarpaper from the oil spill in the gulf to raise money for a school in Tuscaloosa seriously affected by the tornado.

Hi, I’m Reagan. I’m in Project Jubilee. We were practicing Optical Illusions. I was working on a hand Optical Illusion. If you were at my school, near the Project Jubilee classroom, they are hanging up in the Hallway. They are very creative and colorful. I enjoy them very much. We are also studying Jazz Artists. We were able to choose who we wanted to do a report on, from a list our Project Jubilee teacher chose out, there were many to choose from. I chose Dizzy Gillespie. None of us, 6th graders have started our report yet. I can’t wait to start. I really hope that Dizzy Gillespie is a saxophone player. I am interested in Saxophones very much. Because this is my first blog post, it might not be as good as the others I will post this year. Thanks for reading though, I have more to talk about, I’m not just ending there. Project Jubilee is a great honor to be in. I really love it. I have been in it since 5th grade. It is a very fun thing to be able to get into. There are also alot of other classes to get into here, at my school. Now, I hope you liked this post. Thanks for reading, once again.
Catch ya later,
Reagan!

Hi! This is Kirsten and today in project jubilee we did an optical illusion hand. I finished coloring mine today. The colors were mint green and blue. Next week we have to do an optical illusion that has alot of blocks that look like their going through a hole. I am so excited to do some more! We also learned about jazz. For homework we had to pick a famous jazz artist (Mine was Stan Getz). We have to look up stuff about them like, where they were born, who they were, who inspired them to do their music, etc. We had a great day!

Hey! My name is Abigail. I have just joined Project Jubilee. So far I LOVE it! Today we are continuing our study of optical illusions. I have finished one and in the process of making one now. Then, we studied the history of Jazz. Did you know that slavery practically influenced the invention of Jazz? Now we are to do a project of a famous Jazz musician, I chose Nat King Cole. We’re having a lot of fun in this class!

Today we finished ‘The Pirates of Penzance’. We also are collecting things for the egg drop. The winner of the Monday classes chess tournament was Clark Hurst. We did a Mona Lisa project that you had to draw what Mona Lisa was looking at. ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ is an opera about a boy and his nanny and the father tells the nanny to take him to be an apprentice as a pilot, but the nanny hears pirate. So he had to stay a pirate until he turned 21 and he could leave. Later on in the movie he is at the major general’s castle and the pirate king tells him that he was born on a leap year on the 29th of February. I seem to have run out of things to write. I’ll blog you later.

Today we finished “The Pirates of Penzance” this is an opera. It is about a boy who was supposed to be apprenticed to a pilot, but his nanny heard Pirate. He was sentenced till he was 21.along the way he meets a fine woman named Mable and wants to marry her, but he finds out that he is only 5 and three quarters. If you’re wondering how. He was born on February the 29, a leap year. This was a comedy of 2 acts written by Gilbert and Sullivan. We’re also collecting what we call “Happy Trash” for a project called the Egg Drop. We’re going to rap a raw egg in our happy trash and drop it from our schools roof. Whoever’s egg doesn’t break wins. Well I got to go. I’ll blog you later, by!
